As part of a mental health event at Google Chicago, Talks at Google welcomes musician Jam Alker, who’s dedicated his creative work to telling his story of overcoming his struggles with addiction, and that recovery is possible. Jam shares his story both through music (on his album ‘Sophrosyne’) and also at speaking engagements across the United States.
In this candid talk, Jam and Googler Caroline Dehnert Moyer look at addiction from both the perspective of the addict and the family members affected by the disease, and talk through both the sources, struggles, and ways out of addition.
There’s life after addiction, and Jam hopes to be proof of that.
